New businesses played a major role in Tarrant County’s job market, generating 47% of all new jobs in 2022, according to a report by Fort Worth-based Sparkyard.
The study found that companies under a year old created 27,021 jobs, accounting for 3% of total employment and averaging 12.5 jobs per 1,000 residents. These startups paid an average wage of $43,962, demonstrating their economic impact despite challenges like inflation and supply chain disruptions.
Since 2020, new businesses have created 141,000 jobs in Tarrant County. The findings were presented to Fort Worth’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Committee, which includes city council members advocating for increased funding and policy support.
Tarrant County ranked fourth among Texas’ largest counties in job creation, trailing Harris, Dallas, and Travis. Experts stress that investing in startups is crucial for the region’s long-term economic health.
