Speeding Concerns Rise Along Timbercreek and Nearby Streets.

Frustration is growing among Benbrook residents who live along Timbercreek Road and nearby streets, such as Timberline and Rio Grande Drive, where drivers have been accused of treating residential areas like racetracks.

Locals say speeding has become a daily issue, with cars and even heavy trucks flying past homes at dangerous speeds, sometimes reaching 50 to 60 miles per hour.

Neighbors report that attempts to work with the city have brought limited results. Patrol cars occasionally appear for short periods, but residents say the enforcement fades as soon as the police presence does.

Several residents have requested speed humps or traffic-calming measures, although city officials have reportedly raised concerns about slowing emergency vehicles and the potential costs that the neighborhood itself might bear.

For parents, the issue hits especially close to home. Many say they are afraid to let their children play in the front yard or cross streets where reckless drivers cut corners and swerve around slower traffic. One resident even offered to pay out of pocket to install a speed bump near a student crossing, but was turned down by the city council years ago.

While some argue that speed bumps are unpopular or ineffective in the long term, others believe that more decisive action is needed to protect families and pedestrians.

A few residents suggest contacting the Benbrook Police Department’s non-emergency line to report specific vehicles or patterns of reckless driving so that officers can monitor the area more closely.

Until a lasting solution is reached, residents remain hopeful that community awareness—and persistence—will help slow things down on Benbrook’s busiest neighborhood roads.
