South Benbrook residents are raising their voices louder than ever, calling out city leaders for failing to enforce ordinances against ongoing dust pollution from the Trinity Estates development.
Despite repeated complaints, neighbors say the dirt continues to accumulate, coating homes, cars, pools, and even lungs with a fine layer of contamination. Many report worsening health concerns, clogged filters, stained property, and the unsettling thought that this fill dirt may be untested and possibly toxic.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) recently stepped in to investigate after months of local pleas went unanswered. Residents argue the problem is not a one-time issue but a daily assault that has been allowed to continue unchecked. With the fill dirt flowing into the Clear Fork of the Trinity, concerns now extend beyond damage to neighborhood properties to federal waterways.
Community groups such as Stop South Benbrook Floods (Facebook link) and Save Trinity Estates (savetrinityestates.org) are urging neighbors across the city to stay engaged, send emails, and push for accountability. Some residents are even questioning whether a class-action lawsuit may be the next step if the city continues to side with developers over its own citizens.
For many, the fight has become symbolic of a larger struggle: whether Benbrook prioritizes its residents and environment, or bows to money and development.
