Obituary for John Dudley Poulsen

BENBROOK, TX – John Dudley Poulsen, 66, passed away on July 27, 2025, from complications related to muscular dystrophy.

Known for his love of the outdoors, Poulsen devoted countless hours to hunting and fishing. White-tailed deer hunting was his greatest passion, but he also pursued turkey, wild boar, and the challenging Aoudad Ram, collecting numerous trophies along the way. On the water, he enjoyed bass, catfish, crappie, and the occasional saltwater fishing trip.

Poulsen’s happiest memories came from these adventures, and he wished for his ashes to be scattered in the places that brought him the most joy — the McLane family farm, where he spent many seasons deer hunting, and Sam Rayburn Reservoir, one of his favorite bass fishing spots.

Details about his life and arrangements can be found at Winscott Funeral Home, where friends and family may also send flowers or memorial trees in his honor.
