According to reports on the Texas Parks & Wildlife website, the summer months are great for fishing for white bass and channel catfish.
“Early spring is the best time to catch lunker largemouth bass in Benbrook Lake, fishing the mouths of the creeks. Hybrid striped bass fishing picks up in the late spring and early summer months, fishing the humps and ridges found in the main lake near the dam. Blue catfish are found near the river channel in winter in deep water. Crappie gather in brush to spawn then move to deeper water where they can be caught on live minnows. White bass and channel catfish are good targets in summer months.“
Listed below are some of the best bait types to use when fishing for channel cats:
- Chicken liver
- Crawfish
- Stink bait
- Dip baits
- Worms
