Legacy in the Rocks: A Family’s History Lives On at Brannon Bridge.

Just outside Benbrook, tucked away in Parker County, a quiet stretch of land holds more than scenic views along the Brazos River. It carries a living story.

Rhonda McDonald Siver, a seventh-generation rancher, recently shared a piece of her family’s deep Texas roots. On her property, the weathered stones of the old Brannon Bridge still stand, a reminder of days when Brannon’s Crossing ferry once operated before the bridge opened in 1906.

On a recent ride, Rhonda spotted the name of her great-great-uncle, Harvey Jones, carved into the second row of rocks. Born in 1897, he lived and died in Brock, while his younger sister, Rhonda’s great-grandmother, Bessie, came to own this land at just 17 years old in 1917.

Today, Rhonda calls that same land home, sharing the ranch with her grandchildren and offering guided trail rides along the Brazos River. Her love for the land and its history shines through every story she tells and every ride she leads.
