FORT WORTH, Texas — Kim Neal, the first Director of the Office of Police Monitor in Fort Worth and a trailblazer in promoting police accountability and transparency, died on December 13, 2024, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, after battling a long-term illness.
During her tenure in Fort Worth, Neal spearheaded efforts to strengthen community trust and improve relations between the police department and residents. Her leadership in overseeing the police monitor office ensured that the department operated fairly and responsibly.
Her legacy is felt by both colleagues and the community. In lieu of flowers, her family and friends are encouraging donations to the police monitor organization she supported throughout her career. Neal’s commitment to accountability and justice has left a lasting mark on Fort Worth and beyond.
