Crime alert – attempted home invasion

On 07-16-18, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Benbrook police officers responded to the 100 block of Mildred Lane to investigate an attempted home invasion. The resident reported that two black females had knocked on the front door and asked to come inside to use a telephone. The resident refused to open the door, and the females left. No one was hurt, and nothing was taken.

Investigation of the incident revealed two black males were hiding beside the house while the females attempted to get the resident to open the door. In surveillance footage, both of the male subjects appear to be armed with handguns.

Officers searched the area and located one suspect, who was arrested. Officers also located another person walking in the area. That person was released pending further investigation but remains a person of interest in the case.
