Fort Worth, TX — Four schools in west Fort Worth have been removed from the list of potential closures or consolidations as Fort Worth ISD continues refining its long-term facilities master plan.
Western Hills High School, William Monnig Middle School, W.C. Stripling Middle School, and Westcliff Elementary School are no longer at risk, thanks to factors like stable enrollment, geographic challenges, and ongoing renovations.
The decision follows a recent school board meeting where a list of up to 25 schools was initially proposed for closure to address declining enrollment and aging infrastructure. A facilities task force comprising over 100 community members has been reassessing these options, with more schools potentially coming off the list after a March 26 meeting.
The district aims to alleviate uncertainty among families and staff, emphasizing that no high school closures are currently under consideration. However, boundary adjustments could still alter where students attend in the future.
