Fort Worth, TX — The fifth annual Fort Worth African American Roots Music Festival is challenging misconceptions about country, roots, and folk music by spotlighting Black American musicians.
As the only festival of its kind in Texas and one of the few nationwide, founded by Brandi Waller-Pace, a former Fort Worth ISD music teacher and musician, it aims to showcase the city’s diversity and the rich history of Black artists in these genres.
Attendees can expect a mix of history and rhythm, including a Fort Worth-inspired performance by Flemons and the festival’s first-ever square dance. Musicians are encouraged to bring their guitars, banjos, or fiddles to join in on the jam sessions, ensuring a lively and inclusive celebration of roots music.
