Families in the Western Hills and Benbrook area have several local options for free food and household support, thanks to a network of food pantries and community partners working together to meet growing needs.
On campus, Cougar Pride Alliance/Cougar Corner serves Western Hills High School students directly, providing groceries, hygiene items, and essentials through the school counseling office. Beyond campus, several local organizations offer additional assistance.
The LVT Rise Community Center at 8201 Calmont Avenue operates a mobile pantry every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon, while WestAid Food Pantry on Cherry Lane offers pre-packed goods three times a week. Corners of the Field Pantry at Birchman Baptist Church and the Restoration Center Mobile Pantry on Las Vegas Trail also serve families regularly.
In Benbrook, Capstone Church and Manna Joseph Storehouse at Encounter Church provide weekly and bi-weekly food pickup opportunities, while Western Hills Church of Christ partners with the Tarrant Area Food Bank for Thursday distributions.
Families in nearby River Oaks can also visit St. Paul the Apostle Church, which runs a Tuesday morning pantry serving up to 40 families.
Each location has its own schedule and guidelines, and some may require ID or registration on the first visit. For assistance or referrals, Western Hills families can contact the school counseling office at 817-815-5618 to connect with Cougar Corner.
No one in the community should go hungry. Share this information to help ensure every student and family has access to the support they need.
