The Benbrook Fire Department is raising the bar when it comes to compassionate, inclusive service.
In a new partnership with Elliott’s Voice, a nonprofit committed to empowering nonverbal individuals, the department has equipped all its ambulances with AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) cards in both English and Spanish.
These simple yet powerful visual tools help bridge the communication gap during emergency responses—especially for those who are nonverbal or have difficulty speaking. From medical needs to emotional states, these cards ensure first responders can understand and assist every resident clearly and quickly.
It’s a thoughtful, community-centered move that reaffirms Benbrook’s commitment to making sure every voice is heard—especially in moments that matter most.
