Fort Worth ISD continues its tradition of recognizing civil rights leaders Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chavez with a district-wide holiday on Monday.
As the first Texas school district to establish this observance in 2019, FWISD pays tribute to their lasting impact on labor rights and social justice.
Here’s what to expect:
- Most students will have the day off.
- Early college students will still have class.
- Teachers will participate in a FLEX professional development day.
- District staff will report to work as usual.
Huerta and Chavez led the United Farm Workers movement, advocating for fair wages, safe working conditions, and labor protections that continue to shape workplaces today. Their legacy of justice and service remains an essential part of history, inspiring future generations.
