As another Texas summer brings triple-digit temperatures, Meals On Wheels of Tarrant County is asking the community to help protect some of its most vulnerable neighbors.
Extreme heat is one of the leading weather-related causes of death in the United States, and older adults and people with disabilities face an even greater risk. Without reliable air conditioning, indoor temperatures can quickly become dangerous, increasing the chances of dehydration, heat-related illness, and complications from existing medical conditions.
To help, Meals On Wheels is collecting fans and window air conditioning units. Financial donations are also needed to help cover electric bills and air conditioner installation costs.

Community members can also purchase needed items through the organization’s Amazon Wish List at https://www.amazon.com/s?k=box+fans&ref=nb_sb_noss.
A fan, an air conditioner, or a simple donation can make the difference between a dangerous summer and a safe one for a neighbor in need.
