Benbrook residents are trying to figure out what is happening with the Dollar General store on Benbrook Boulevard after multiple shoppers recently reported finding the doors locked during normal business hours.
Some residents said online searches briefly showed the store as “permanently closed,” while others reported the location still appearing as open on both Google and the Dollar General app.
Confusion grew after several customers said they stopped by throughout the week, only to find the lights on but the doors locked, with no notice posted outside.
The store, located at 9021 Benbrook Blvd., has become a regular stop for many nearby residents, especially coupon shoppers and families looking for quick household items nearby.
At least one resident noted hearing reports that some Dollar General locations nationwide have been closing, though there has been no official confirmation that the Benbrook store is shutting down permanently.
It is also worth noting that recent temporary closures may be related to ongoing air-conditioning issues previously reported at the location.
Community members and employees have shared concerns that temperatures inside the building have at times climbed into the 80s and near 90 degrees, making it difficult for both staff and customers to remain inside comfortably.
As of this week, the store’s status still appears inconsistent online, leaving many Benbrook shoppers waiting for clearer answers.
