The morning commute slowed to a crawl Thursday near the back side of Benbrook Dam, just outside Southwest Christian School, after a car slid off the road along a narrow, curved stretch.
Drivers reported traffic at a standstill around 7:35 a.m., with cars backed up well beyond the usual flow. Early reports pointed to a possible accident near the curve, and later updates confirmed a vehicle had slipped into a ditch near the school entrance.
The good news is the driver appears to be OK. A post shared within the school community indicated the incident was likely caused by wet road conditions on that tight stretch of pavement.
By shortly after 8 a.m., traffic had begun moving again, and the congestion cleared.
Just a reminder of how quickly conditions can change, especially on familiar roads. Slower speeds and a little extra space can go a long way on mornings like this. Be careful out there, Benbrook!
