A leadership shift is underway in Fort Worth ISD, and with it comes a closer look at how the district is being guided through state intervention.
Peter Licata, the state-appointed acting superintendent, has stepped into the role under an agreement shaped with input from the Texas Education Agency. As the district navigates this transition, his contract outlines both his pay and responsibilities during this interim period.
Licata is earning $1,384.62 per day, a figure tied to a prorated version of former Superintendent Karen Molinar’s $360,000 annual salary. The agreement also includes a one-time $25,000 payment to help cover relocation costs as he moves from Broward County, Florida, to Tarrant County.
While serving in the position, Licata is expected to carry out the full scope of a traditional superintendent’s role, overseeing daily operations and aligning district efforts with state directives. At the same time, he is working to obtain his Texas superintendent certification, a requirement to remain in the role long term.
The arrangement reflects a district in transition, with leadership focused on stabilizing operations, meeting state expectations, and preparing for what comes next.
