The Benbrook Bobcats returned to the field Friday at Arlington Heights High School for another day of play in the Drew Medford Tournament.

After opening the event with two wins on Thursday, the team experienced both sides of baseball in a busy day that included a tough loss and a gritty comeback performance.

The afternoon began against Lake Belton, where the Bobcats struggled to find any rhythm at the plate. Lake Belton’s pitching kept Benbrook hitters off balance, and the offense never fully got going. Gilulianno Martinez led the Bobcats with two hits, but opportunities were limited.

Meanwhile, Lake Belton broke through in the fourth inning and carried the momentum from there. Bobcats pitcher Cameron Crampton allowed three runs over four innings while striking out two. Lake Belton added more runs late and pulled away for a 9-0 victory.

The Bobcats quickly regrouped for their evening matchup against Arlington Heights in front of a lively crowd that included supporters from both schools.

Pitching took center stage early, with Benbrookโ€™s Sebastian Martinez Colon delivering his strongest outing of the season. He struck out ten batters across six innings while allowing just three hits.

The Bobcats finally broke through in the fourth inning when Brennan Barton doubled to center field and Kody Kuhl added a sacrifice fly, giving the Bobcats a 2-0 lead. Arlington Heights answered with runs of its own and eventually took a narrow 3-2 lead in the fifth.

The Bobcats responded in the sixth inning when Ethan Tucker singled to right field to tie the game at three. Both teams held firm the rest of the way, and the game ended in a 3-3 tie after extra innings.

Hudson Stockton led Benbrook at the plate with two hits, while Tucker, Barton, and Kuhl each drove in a run.

With the split results, the Bobcats move to 6-7-1 on the season and 2-1-1 in tournament play. Weather permitting, the team is scheduled to return to the field Saturday to face Fort Worth Country Day in the final day of the Drew Medford Tournament.
