Thursday night at Billingsley Field House turned into a statement evening for Benbrook basketball. After the Lady Bobcats handled business earlier, the Bobcats followed with an equally strong performance in the nightcap against the Western Hills Cougars.
Benbrook entered the game 9-6, focused on securing its first district win. Western Hills came in at 3-10 with the same goal. It did not take long to see which team was in control.
Senior guard Brennan Barton set the tone early, knocking down two three-pointers and a quick two to spark a fast start. By the end of the first quarter, the Bobcats led 17-8 with scoring coming from multiple players.
The momentum only grew in the second quarter. Barton stayed hot from the outside, while Jaydan Bradshaw finished strong in the paint. The lead stretched to 30-16 at halftime, and the Bobcats never let up.
Coming out of the break, Cael Denson and Deshawn Deane added to the surge, combining for key buckets in the third.

The highlight came at the buzzer when Jayden Hall launched a three-quarter court shot that dropped (second of the season), pushing the lead to 47 to 22 and drawing a loud response from the home crowd.
Western Hills found some rhythm from the perimeter in the fourth, but the gap was too large to close. Benbrook stayed composed on both ends and closed out a convincing 59 to 39 win.
Barton led all scorers with 19 points. Denson added 11, while Bradshaw and Deane chipped in eight each. The bench rounded out the scoring in a genuine team effort.
The win moves the Bobcats to 10-6 overall and 1-0 in district play. Western Hills now sits at 3-11 and 0-1 in the district. Both teams head into the Christmas break and will return to action the first week of January 2026.
