Stay Safe While Holiday Shopping.

The holiday rush is in full swing, and while most folks are focused on finding the perfect gifts, police want to remind shoppers that this season can also draw out people looking for easy opportunities. A little awareness can go a long way in keeping you and your belongings safe.

Officers urge residents to park in well-lit areas and stay near store entrances whenever possible. If you ever feel uneasy walking to your car, ask security staff for an escort. Once inside your vehicle, keep valuables out of sight, lock your doors, and hold purses close. Wallets tucked in front pockets are much harder to grab.

If you plan to travel, consider setting interior lights on timers so your home looks lived in. A trusted neighbor can also help by picking up packages or parking in your driveway from time to time.

And as always, if something feels off, speak up. Report suspicious activity to the Benbrook Police Department’s non-emergency line at (817) 249-3100.

A little preparation helps keep the season merry for everyone.
