Benbrook Isn’t Dry, But It’s Definitely Selective About Its Spirits.

A recent conversation among Benbrook residents stirred up an old question: Is Benbrook still a dry city?

The short answer is no, but the long answer reveals how local regulations determine which businesses can serve alcohol within city limits.

While nearby Fort Worth boasts bars along 377, those spots sit outside Benbrook’s jurisdiction.

Within Benbrook proper, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) issues all alcohol licenses, but the city has additional requirements. Businesses can apply to sell beer and wine for off-site consumption or mixed beverages if they operate as a restaurant.

However, at least 60 percent of their revenue must come from food sales. In other words, Benbrook doesn’t allow standalone bars.

The city’s goal is to balance growth with community standards. For now, residents will continue to sip cocktails alongside chicken wings or tacos, as purely alcohol-based establishments remain off the table.
