A Benbrook family is searching for answers after 62-year-old Walter Brown Sr., a father of five, was killed in a hit-and-run last Saturday morning.
Brown had run out of gas and was stepping out of his car along the 6400 block of Southwest Boulevard when he was struck around 1:07 a.m. He was taken to Harris Southwest Hospital, where he later died.
Police are looking for a red Chevrolet Silverado, model year 2007โ2013, believed to have damage including a missing right inner wheel well. So far, no arrests have been made.
Brownโs children describe him as a man of faith, known for his gospel singing, preaching, and family traditions. In a GoFundMe post, they shared their grief while raising funds for funeral costs, remembering the simple joys of their fatherโs presence that were stolen in an instant.
Benbrook Police Chief C. Ross confirmed there have been no new developments. The department is asking the public to help shed light on the driverโs identity or whereabouts. Anyone with information is urged to call Benbrook Police at (817) 249-1610 or Detective James Hatton at (817) 249-6089.
As the investigation continues, the Brown family is left with memories and unanswered questions. For the Benbrook community, this is a call to take a stand. Even the smallest detail may be the one that helps bring justice and closure to a family now carrying an unbearable loss.
