If you’ve taken a stroll along the Art Cowsen Trail recently, you may have noticed something off.
Where there was once buzz around a new housing development taking shape next to the trail, now there’s silence. Construction equipment sits still, and progress looks frozen.
One Benbrook resident, returning to the trail for the first time in a while, couldn’t help but ask the question many others are likely thinking: what happened?
The area had been primed for growth, with early signs pointing to new homes and expanded development near one of Benbrook’s most scenic walking routes. But lately, it seems like everything’s come to a standstill. No new framing. No trucks moving in and out. Just… nothing.
Right now, there’s no public explanation for the delay. It could be tied to permitting, supply chain issues, financing, or shifts in the market. Whatever the reason, the once-promising project has left trail-goers and nearby residents wondering when—or if—things will resume.
For now, the trail is still open, still peaceful, and still worth the walk. Just don’t expect much change next door anytime soon.
