As spring activities kick off across Benbrook, one local option is quietly doing a lot more than knocking down pins.
The 2026 STORM Winter Youth Bowling season at Cowtown Bowling Palace is giving kids a place to compete, grow, and even earn college scholarship money while having fun.
Youth leagues are forming now and begin Saturday, January 3, with all divisions bowling Saturday mornings.
Programs are available for ages 3 through 17, with leagues grouped by age and skill level so beginners and experienced bowlers alike feel right at home. Team sizes are small, coaching is hands-on, and every week brings awards, improvement, and encouragement.
What makes these leagues stand out is the scholarship opportunity. Many awards are deposited through the USBC SMART program, meaning kids can build real college funds simply by showing up, learning the game, and competing.
More details on youth eligibility and SafeSport requirements are available at https://bowl.com/RVP.
There is also a free practice session every Saturday morning before league play, with volunteer coaches working one-on-one with bowlers to help them improve at their own pace. It is structured, supportive, and genuinely fun.
This is one of those programs that feels good to share. As a Benbrook resident, a youth bowling coach, and a parent of a child who participates alongside several friends from the area, I have seen firsthand how much confidence and joy these leagues bring. Bowling really is for all ages, and youth programs like this offer far more than most people realize.
If you have ever thought about getting your child involved in bowling, this is a great place to start. Stop by Cowtown Bowling Palace to sign up or reach out if you have questions. Sometimes the best opportunities are right down the road, waiting for someone to roll the first ball.
