Benbrook Set to Host First Mike Nelson Softball Tournament.

Summer softball in Benbrook is getting a new tradition.

The Benbrook Youth Baseball and Softball Association is preparing for its 1st Annual Mike Nelson Softball Tournament, set for June 11 through June 13 at Dutch Branch Park in Benbrook. Organizers are encouraging teams to register now, with limited spots still available.

The tournament promises three guaranteed games for every team, along with awards for first- and second-place finishers. Built around Pony Rules, USA and USSSA bats will be allowed, giving teams a familiar and competitive playing environment.

This event is open only to recreational, rec all-star, and C-level teams, helping keep the focus on community competition, player development, and a weekend families can enjoy together.

Divisions include 6U Modified T-Ball, 8U, 10U, 12U, and 14U. Entry fees are $250 per team with no gate fee for spectators. Pay-at-the-plate umpire fees range from $40 to $50, depending on division.

Registration closes June 6 at midnight, so coaches and parents will want to move quickly.

Beyond the scores and trophies, the tournament is built around something bigger: giving young athletes a chance to compete, have fun, and make lasting memories right here at home.

For many Benbrook families, weekends at the ballpark are already part of summer. This June, they will have one more reason to bring the lawn chairs and stay a little longer.

To register, email bybsatournaments@yahoo.com. Games will be played at Dutch Branch Park in Benbrook.
