Western Hills Cougars Start Football Season Strong.

The Western Hills JV Cougars opened their season with a gritty 2–0 win over the Northside Steers last night.

Elijah Fossett and Gilberto Vasquez delivered an early safety, while Dante Mendoza’s kickoff return gave the Cougars strong field position. Aiden Bell and Malcolm Jasso added steady gains on the ground, but it was the defense that sealed the night.

Late sacks by Jourdan Wade Allen, Desmond Lewis, and Fossett, along with a forced fumble from Brandon Epps, shut down any hope of a Steers comeback before a lightning delay ended the game at halftime. The victory puts the JV squad at 1-0 heading into next week’s home matchup against Krum.

The excitement continues Saturday, August 30th, as the Varsity Cougars launch their 2025–2026 season at FWISD’s Clark Field. Fans are encouraged to come out and back the team as Cougar Pride looks to make its mark under the lights.
