The Western Hills Cougars are celebrating a standout performance after senior runner Victor Lewis captured first place in the 4A Boys Varsity 5K at the Lake Ridge Invitational.
Lewis crossed the finish line in 19 minutes, 55 seconds, earning a gold medal and plenty of smiles after his dominant run.
The Cougars also had strong representation on the girlsโ side, with Vivian Maina and Victoria Lewis competing in the 2-mile race. Their determination highlights a growing cross-country program that is eager to bring more students into the fold.
The team is still recruiting runners, and coaches encourage anyone interested in joining to connect with Coach Nowak for details. Cross-country offers students the chance to build endurance, confidence, and friendships while representing Western Hills on the course.
