Western Hills Choir Earns Top Marks at UIL Contest.

Students in the Western Hills High School choir program had a strong showing this week at the UIL choir contest held at Arborlawn United Methodist Church.

The Varsity Boys Tenor Bass choir earned the highest possible rating from the judges, receiving all ones for its performance. The result reflects months of preparation and practice leading up to the competition.

Later in the day, the Girls Non-Varsity Treble Choir also took the stage as the UIL contest continued.

The long day at the competition was made a little easier thanks to community support. Volunteers from the Cougar Corner Saturday Morning Sandwich Group provided lunch for about 40 choir students, delivering sandwiches, chips, snacks, and water to keep the group fueled through the afternoon.

School leaders say the choir programโ€™s success highlights both the dedication of the students and the leadership of choir director Blake Glass, the Western Hills High School Teacher of the Year for the 2025 to 2026 school year.
