The Story Behind Benbrook Tea & Wellness’ Ampersand.

A 3 a.m. idea eventually became part of the identity of a Benbrook business.

In recognition of World Ampersand Day this past week, Benbrook Tea & Wellness shared the personal story behind the familiar symbol in its logo.

The inspiration came early one morning when the owner woke with an image in mind: an ampersand shaped like steam rising from a hot cup of tea. That idea became the logo customers now associate with Benbrook Tea & Wellness.

The ampersand itself has a fitting history. The symbol developed from the Latin word et, meaning “and,” and the letters eventually joined into the familiar & shape.

For Benbrook Tea & Wellness, however, the symbol carries a meaning that is closer to home. What began as a middle-of-the-night idea became a lasting piece of the business and its story.
