BENBROOK, TX—Have you ever wondered what goes into installing a traffic signal? It’s not as simple as flipping a switch.
The process involves careful planning and coordination to ensure that the new traffic light will effectively serve the community for years to come.
The journey starts with identifying the need for the signal, which typically takes 1 to 3 months. Following that, the decision to move forward is made, including the design specifications, a process that usually takes 4 to 6 months.
Next, the procurement and pre-construction phase takes 7 to 12 months, followed by 13 to 16 months of actual construction and setup. Finally, the last 2 months are dedicated to testing and activation, ensuring the signal works flawlessly.
From start to finish, the entire process can span 17 to 18 months, but the result is a traffic signal that’s built to last and keep our roads safer.
