The Ants Are Back, and I’m Losing the Battle.

I thought we had won.

Last week, after ants invaded our kitchen, I followed the advice others had shared. We put out Terro liquid ant baits, sprayed Ortho around the outside of the house and wiped the countertops with vinegar and water.

Within two days, they were gone.

Then I woke up this morning.

They’re back.

This time, they’re coming through an electrical outlet above the kitchen counter. The bait was still on the floor, but apparently the ants found another route. After spending what felt like an hour cleaning up a million of them, I finally put another bait station on the counter near the outlet.

So, naturally, I turned to my Benbrook neighbors again.

The suggestions came quickly. More bait stations. Move them closer to where the ants are entering. Treat the outside of the house. Peppermint oil. Orange Guard. Diatomaceous earth. Sevin Dust. Amdro granules. One person even suggested Malt-O-Meal.

Several neighbors said the biggest lesson was patience. The ants need time to carry bait back to the colony, and what looks like a problem solved may only be temporary. Others said their infestations eventually required professional treatment.

Recommendations included Upham Road Pest Control, along with All Quest Pest Control, Hometown Pest Control, Purple Care, AJ Southwest Pest Control and AAA Pest Solutions.

At this point, I’m willing to listen.
