FORT WORTH, TX – With the January 31 deadline approaching for 2024 property tax payments, Fort Worth homeowners are experiencing major sticker shock.
A recent CoreLogic report reveals that Tarrant County property taxes have surged 29.3% over the past five years, ranking Fort Worth No. 11 among U.S. counties with the highest increases.
While Texas has no state income tax, skyrocketing property taxes—alongside a 42% surge in home prices since 2019—are putting pressure on homeowners and renters alike. In 2024 alone, Fort Worth residents paid a median $6,633 in property taxes, one of the highest figures in the nation.
Experts warn that without government intervention, property tax burdens will continue rising, impacting affordability across the state. Tarrant County Tax Office locations are open Monday–Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM for those making last-minute payments.
