Spring Break may feel far off, but local advocates are already looking ahead to make sure students do not go without.
Patty Pressley with Cougar Pride Alliance is encouraging Benbrook residents to take advantage of a few unusually low grocery prices this week that can stretch donation dollars further than usual.
Right now, everyday staples that are easy to store and distribute are deeply discounted at Tom Thumb and Albertsons.
Tuna is priced at 48 cents, ramen at just 9 cents, and boxed mac and cheese is running 10 for 5 dollars, or 50 cents per box. These are the kinds of items that make Spring Break food bags possible for families who need a little extra support when school meals pause.
There are purchase limits, but shoppers who stop in more than once before next Wednesday may be able to add a bit more each trip. Even a few dollars can turn into multiple meals when prices dip this low.
For those who want to help but are unsure where to start, this is an easy entry point. A small donation during a routine grocery run can quietly make a meaningful difference for a student during the break.

Sometimes the most practical help starts with noticing a good deal and choosing to share it forward.
