Residents Invited to Help Shape Free Tree Education Event.

Got questions about your trees? Residents have a chance to help decide the topic of an upcoming free educational program at the Crowley Public Library.

Local arborist Jason Atwood, owner of Atwood Tree Care, is preparing to host a Tree Talk on June 23 and is asking the community what they’d most like to learn.

Residents can choose from three topics:

A. Ask an Arborist
An open question-and-answer session covering topics such as tree decline, oak wilt, insects, pruning, watering, storm damage, root issues, and more.

B. Proper Tree Planting & Establishment
A practical look at how to plant trees correctly and avoid common mistakes that can impact long-term growth and health.

C. Tree Science & Tree Biology for Homeowners
A deeper dive into how trees function, including roots, soil health, water movement, nutrients, and the science behind keeping trees healthy.

Atwood brings extensive credentials to the discussion, including certifications as an ISA Certified Arborist, ISA Texas Oak Wilt Qualified professional, ISA Prescription Pruning Qualified professional, and ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified professional. He also serves on the Johnson County, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Landowner Committee.

Community members are encouraged to share their preferences or suggest additional tree-related topics before the June 23 event.

For homeowners looking to better understand and care for the trees that shade their neighborhoods, this is a chance to help shape the conversation before it even begins.
