North Benbrook residents are getting ready to fire up the grill and celebrate together at the Mary’s Creek Labor Day Weekend Block Party on Sunday, August 31. The event kicks off at 5 p.m. at 8604 Elmwood Drive and promises an evening of food, fun, and community spirit.
This year’s celebration doubles as a “Save Mary’s Creek” victory party after neighbors rallied around the issue with City Council. The gathering is hosted by Derrick Varnell, who is running for City Council, along with special guests Sean Moore and Ryan Regan. It’s a chance for residents to meet local candidates in a relaxed backyard setting.
The menu will feature brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and ribs, with guests encouraged to bring a side dish. A water slide will keep things cool for kids, and plenty of neighborly conversation will round out the evening.
Organizers ask that attendees RSVP so they can prepare enough barbecue. For more details or to RSVP, email derrickvarnell@gmail.com.
