Hosting Eastern Hills Lady Highlanders to open district play, the Lady Cougars wasted no time.
They put up six runs in the first inning and kept the Lady Highlanders off the board. In the second, the Lady Cougars added ten more runs while allowing just one. By the end of the third inning, the scoreboard read 21-1, sealing the game by run rule.
Addison Dudley set the tone from the circle and at the plate. She struck out eight over three innings, allowed just one hit, and issued no walks. Offensively, she reached base in all four plate appearances, added two stolen bases, drove in two runs, and scored once.
Isabela Gonzales also delivered, reaching base three times with a home run, three runs scored, and a stolen base. Vivian Hernandez matched the momentum, getting on base three times with three runs, two RBI, and a double.
The Lady Cougars finished the night with a team on-base percentage of .912, their best mark of the season.
The Lady Cougars now sit at 4-6 overall and 1-0 in district play. Next up is a crosstown showdown against the Benbrook Lady Bobcats, who enter the matchup 2-0 in district. Fridayโs game promises to bring plenty of local pride to the field.
