A year after bringing home a state title, Benbrook Lady Bobcat golfer Avery Glanzer returned to Legends Golf Course in Kingsland with another chance to finish on top.
And while the ending looked a little different this time, the result was still one more memorable chapter in one of the best golf careers Benbrook has seen.
The senior and University of Texas Rio Grande Valley commit entered the final round tied for second after shooting a 74 on Day 1 of the UIL 4A State Tournament, sitting five strokes behind Taylor freshman Rylen Darter.
Glanzer answered with a strong final round today, shooting a 73 to finish with a two-day total of 147. The round helped her win a tiebreaker and secure second place overall in the state tournament.
Darter claimed the 2026 UIL 4A Girls State Championship with a total score of 140, while Glanzer closed out her decorated Bobcat career with another podium finish on one of Texas high school golf’s biggest stages.
Over the years, Glanzer helped raise the standard for Lady Bobcat golf, building a resume filled with records, championships, and memorable performances. She closes out a standout career that included four district titles and four straight trips to the state tournament, finishing 11th as a freshman, third as a sophomore, winning the state title as a junior, and placing runner-up as a senior.
Her final tournament may not have ended with another trophy at the top, but it added one more impressive finish to a career Benbrook fans will remember for a long time.
As she heads to the next level to continue her golf career at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, Benbrook sends its thanks and congratulations to one of its all-time greats.
