Fort Worth’s Community Land Trust is redeveloping a 15-acre seminary property into affordable housing, aiming to alleviate the city’s rising rent burden.
By owning the land and lowering homeowner costs, the trust ensures long-term affordability for residents earning 60%–80% of the median income.
Led by Executive Director Becky Gligo, the project emphasizes neighborhood integration, community engagement, and diverse housing options like cottages and townhomes. A model home is set to debut in early 2025.
This initiative could indirectly impact Benbrook, a Fort Worth suburb, by setting a precedent for affordable housing solutions and alleviating pressure on its housing market. However, increased demand in neighboring areas may drive prices up unless similar programs expand to Benbrook.
