After more than four decades calling Benbrook home, Greg Clem is asking residents to consider him for a new role in the community: City Council member.
Clem has announced his candidacy for Benbrook City Council Place 4, pointing to his engineering background, involvement in local issues, and belief that residents should have a meaningful voice in city decisions.
Raised in Abilene, Clem moved to Fort Worth to work for General Dynamics, now Lockheed Martin, and later settled in Benbrook. He currently works as a principal engineer at Lockheed Martin and is a husband, father, and grandfather of four.
Clem said his involvement in Benbrook issues surrounding floodplain development and public safety helped shape his decision to run. He has attended meetings, raised questions and voiced concerns about decisions he believed could affect residents and neighborhoods.
That experience, he said, reinforced his belief that residents who take the time to participate in local government deserve to have their concerns taken seriously.
His campaign priorities include responsible development and spending, public safety, accountability, and addressing areas of city government that are not working as they should.
“My engineering career has taught me to study the details, ask questions, examine the facts, consider the consequences, and make thoughtful decisions,” Clem said. “That is the same approach I will bring to City Council.”
Clem said he plans to spend the campaign meeting residents and hearing what matters to them and their neighborhoods.
