For decades, Benbrook’s beloved robot slide was part of growing up here. Now, even though the longtime playground fixture is gone, its memories have a new place to live.
The Benbrook Public Library has created a digital scrapbook celebrating the robot and the generations of families who climbed, played, and made memories around it from the 1970s through 2026.
And the scrapbook is still growing.
If you have an old family photo with the robot tucked away in an album, or something more recent on your phone, the library would like to add it to the collection. Photos can be emailed to
bridgett@benbrooklibrary.org.
Residents can browse the memories and learn how to contribute through the Benbrook Public Library Community Hub.
The robot may be gone from the playground, but judging by the photos and stories Benbrook continues to share, it isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
