Benbrook Traffic Hits a Boiling Point on 377.

If your Friday afternoon plans included taking Highway 377 through Benbrook, you probably didn’t get far.

What started as a typical end-of-week rush quickly turned into a gridlock marathon, with stalled trucks, poor traffic signal timing, and a growing population all contributing to the congestion.

One major backup came from a southbound truck that broke down in the left lane near the 2871 intersection. Police were on the scene, directing traffic, but even after the truck was cleared, delays lingered.

Frustrated drivers noted that signal timing wasn’t helping, and more than a few folks pointed out that the lights haven’t been synced correctly in years.

Add to that some filming activity for the TV series Landman, which was happening again at the 377 cutoff near Cresson, and it was a perfect storm of congestion.

Residents near Park Center reported that production vehicles were still on their streets, while others tried to make sense of traffic patterns that only seemed to worsen.

Locals didn’t hold back their thoughts. Some miss the quieter days of small-town Benbrook, while others watch as new neighborhoods rise and brace for what’s next. With more housing developments and plans for a highway loop at 1187 and 377, this might be the start of a much longer conversation.

For now, the message from drivers is loud and clear: fix the lights, manage the growth, and give us back some breathing room.

Or at the very least, a Friday evening that doesn’t feel like rush hour in a big city.
