While many were enjoying a quiet weekend, Benbrook Middle-High School musicians were competing and bringing home hardware.
At the UIL Solo and Ensemble contest, the BMHS Orchestra earned 20 medals, the highest total in the district. It was a strong showing that reflects long hours of practice and steady focus behind the scenes.
Students who earned medals include Aiden Yun, Andrea Castellano, Jack Gentry, Miguel Rosales, Jeffrey Lane, Fiona Chan, Lillyana Vasquez, Magnolia Peterson, Braden King, Jania Gray, Skylar Sosropartono, Katelynn Leis, Reese Morton, Michael Pineiro, Elijah Lopez, and Isabella Bouldin.
Seven musicians advanced to the State level competition, which will be held in the Austin area in late May. Those advancing are Miguel Rosales on viola, Aiden Yun on violin, Fiona Chan on cello, Jeffrey Lane on viola, Magnolia Peterson on cello, Jack Gentry on violin, and Skylar Sosropartono on piano.
For a school community that rallies around its athletes, this weekend was a reminder that excellence also lives in rehearsal rooms and on recital stages. Benbrookโs orchestra students are not just playing the notes. They are setting the tone for the district.
