On Saturday night, Josh A. Harville and many others packed out a room in Benbrook to fill it with more than banter and conversation. It carried a shared sense of purpose.
The Run for the V Sponsor Appreciation Dinner, hosted by VFW Post 10429, brought together local supporters, volunteers, and leaders who have helped turn a community event into something that reaches far beyond a single day.
This year’s effort supported two organizations working directly with veterans. One Tribe Foundation provides care and resources for those facing PTSD and mental health challenges. VetStarts helps veterans and first responders step into business ownership and build a path forward after service.
Events like Run for the V often start as a simple idea. A race. A fundraiser. But over time, they take on a different weight. They become a way for a community to show up in a tangible way for the people who once showed up for them.
Saturday night was a reminder of that. The impact is real and growing. For those looking for a way to get involved locally, this is one of those places where it matters. In Benbrook, support tends to look less like words and more like action.
