A proposed 150-home development called Rowan Ranch has sparked concern among Benbrook residents living near Mary’s Creek. Locals fear the project could worsen flooding and erosion in an already flood-prone area.
The developer claims planned creek improvements will reduce flood risk, but neighbors are skeptical, pointing to past storms that caused the creek to rise dramatically. While the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission approved the rezoning, the City Council will make the final decision on August 21.
Residents have organized a petition and will hold a community meeting on July 21 to discuss concerns ahead of the vote.
