Military families in and around Benbrook now have access to a one-of-a-kind parenting program—free of charge—thanks to STEPS With Horses, a nonprofit based in southwest Fort Worth.
The 12-week program is specially designed for military veterans, service members, and their spouses, offering expert-led group sessions that help parents build stronger relationships with their children. What sets this program apart is its equine-assisted therapy component. While no horse riding is involved, participants will engage in guided, hands-on activities with therapy horses that encourage emotional connection, communication, and reflection.
The group meets on Thursdays from 12 to 2 p.m. beginning in late April. Licensed mental health professionals facilitate sessions, and children do not attend, allowing parents space to focus fully on their own growth. Spots are limited, so interested families are encouraged to sign up soon.
For more information or to enroll, visit stepswithhorses.org or call 682-219-8733 if you know a military family who could benefit, pass it on.
