Bill Hanna, a respected journalist and public servant, passed away unexpectedly this week while vacationing with family in Mexico. He was 62.
Hanna served as Tarrant County’s public information officer since 2019 after a distinguished 29-year career at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. His journalism covered pivotal moments like the 1993 Waco standoff and 9/11, earning accolades for his dedication and accuracy.
County Judge Tim OโHare remembered Hanna as โa true gentlemanโ devoted to his family and community. County Commissioner Manny Ramirez praised his seamless transition from journalism to public service. Former colleagues described him as a reliable, compassionate professional who excelled at covering breaking news with a personal touch.
A TCU graduate, Hanna left a legacy of excellence, kindness, and advocacy. Funeral arrangements are pending through Greenwood Funeral Homes in Fort Worth.
