Back to School Bash Returns August 8 with Bigger Plans to Help Local Families.

As the new school year approaches, one Fort Worth nonprofit is preparing to ease the burden for hundreds of local families.

The Fort Worth Community Collaborative will host its annual Back to School Bash on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 8645 Camp Bowie West Blvd. This year’s event will be held entirely indoors and will offer free school supplies, backpacks, food, haircuts, health services, entertainment, and music.

Last year, after Fort Worth ISD stopped providing school supplies for K-12 students, the organization stepped in to help. In just four weeks, volunteers distributed complete school supply packs and backpacks to 571 students, provided partial supplies to more than 300 others, and connected roughly 1,300 people with free clothing, uniforms, food, and other resources.

Organizers say the need has only grown this year. Community partners, including Texas Roadhouse, Cook Children’s, The Welman Project, JPS Health Network, and the Benbrook Lions Club, will again help prepare students for the school year with services ranging from school physicals to eye exams.

The organization is also seeking sponsors, volunteers, and donations to help meet this year’s goal. Families planning to attend are encouraged to watch for registration information as the event draws closer.
