After Sunday night’s intense storm rolled through Benbrook, at least one household woke up to a surprise that wasn’t a downed limb or power outage.
A Whirlpool oven locked up with a cryptic “Control Lock—The produce is locked” error. And apparently, it’s not the only one.
Neighbors in newer Trophy homes reported similar issues. One resident flipped breakers, swiped screens, and tried every quick fix imaginable. No luck. Others jumped on the phone with Whirlpool only to discover their appliance warranties had already expired. Some shared that the solution ultimately required a complete console replacement ranging anywhere from $400 to $800, depening on the model. Pricey and frustrating, especially if your oven was working just fine the day before.
The tip? Skip Trophy’s customer service and go straight to Whirlpool. And if you’re still covered under warranty, now’s the time to use it. If not, brace for the decision: repair or replace.
