What started as a routine drive home turned into a frustrating Friday for many Benbrook commuters.
Around 4 p.m., traffic began backing up near the light off I-20, stretching all the way down Aledo Road. The cause? A train that came to a stop on the tracks and refused to budge for nearly 30 minutes.
Drivers stuck in the jam shared the same storyโcars lined up in every direction, turning around in search of another way home. Unfortunately, 377 wasnโt much better. By 4:30, traffic there was crawling too, as drivers tried to detour around the standstill.
At 4:45, the train finally started moving again, offering some relief for those whoโd been trapped in the backup. Still, the incident reignited a familiar complaint among Benbrook residents: the need for an overpass or better traffic solutions at key crossings.
For now, commuters are just glad to be moving againโand probably hoping itโs a while before the next train decides to park in the middle of rush hour.
