A little friendly competition turned into $1,700 for Benbrook schools after local families and supporters cast more than 2,100 votes in a community contest organized by the Benbrook Youth Baseball and Softball Association.
Westpark Elementary took first place with 770 votes, earning $500. Rolling Hills Elementary finished close behind with 747 votes and $400, while Benbrook Elementary received 670 votes and $300.
Local businesses Pocket Electric and Construction, LLC and Southern Painting Fort Worth partnered with BYBSA to support the contest. Pocket Electric and Construction is also donating $500 to Benbrook Middle-High School, extending the support to all four local school PTAs.
The final tally made for a close race, but the bigger win was shared across Benbrook: local businesses, families, and neighbors coming together to put money back into their schools.
